Study Abroad is financial aid eligible if you are earning academic credit that is fulfilling a requirement of your degree program (including elective credits). This includes Federal Financial Aid and any FVTC scholarships. Title IV of the Higher Education Act guarantees that students can use federal aid for any approved Study Abroad programs.
Please be aware that if you are a DEPENDENT student, additional loans may need to be requested through the Parent PLUS Loan.
Note: If a study abroad class is added after the 10th business day of the semester, your Federal PELL award will not be adjusted to reflect the change in credit status.
World Languages & Cultures Office offers a competitive scholarship to students who apply for and participate on a study abroad program. You will find additional information on the process of applying for this scholarship within the Study Abroad Application.
Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables students of limited financial means to study or intern abroad, thereby gaining skills critical to our national security and economic competitiveness.
Critical Language Scholarship The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is a fully funded summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. With the goal of broadening the base of Americans studying and mastering critical languages and building relationships between the people of the United States and other countries, CLS provides opportunities to a diverse range of students from across the United States at every level of language learning.
Fund for Education Abroad Scholarships and ongoing support to students with financial need who are underrepresented among the U.S. study-abroad population.
Log onto your MyFVTC account to set up a payment plan. This option will allow you to pay your tuition costs over the course of three months rather than in one lump sum.

An IPFS program lets you see your future career in action. You'll meet professionals, visit workplaces, and learn how jobs in your field are done in another country. You can ask questions, compare ideas, and gain real-world experience. These experiences help you better understand your career and give you a unique story to share with future employers.

A CCE program lets you experience daily life in another culture. You may cook with local residents, visit markets and historic sites, and build meaningful connections with people from different backgrounds. Along the way, you will strengthen important Employability Essentials such as adaptability, confidence, communication, and teamwork. These are skills employers value, and studying abroad is a great way to develop them.
