In accordance with Wisconsin Statute 118.15, the Quest program (Alternative High School) is for students age 16 and older who are at risk of not graduating. Quest is a competency-based, self-paced program for students for whom traditional high school has not proven satisfactory. Students attend Quest through a financial contract between their high school and Fox Valley Technical College, and remain on their high school roles. Contract fees are established yearly by the Wisconsin Technical College System. Alternative High School-Credit Students (§ 118.15(b) This service provides courses for students 16 years of age and older for high school credit through a contract with local high schools. (Students and their parents may request this contracted service that allows daytime attendance in the Quest Program in lieu of attendance at their high school. School board approval is not required.) The high school is responsible for all fees. Alternative High School-HSED Students ( 118.15(c)(2) This service provides courses for students 17 years of age and older to prepare for their High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) through a contract with local high schools. Students must have the approval of the school board before they are allowed to attend daytime classes at the Quest Program in lieu of their high school. The high school is responsible for all fees.
To enter the Quest program, you must be at least 16 years old and behind in credits or basic skills and at risk of not graduating high school. The statutory definition of a “child at-risk” is a child who is:
one or more years behind his/her age group in the number of high school credits attained or two or more years behind in basic skills levels, and
is a drop-out, habitual truant, parent or adjudicated delinquent
Students and parents must work with their local high school guidance counselor or at-risk coordinator in determining the best educational plan.
Students interested in pursuing Quest Alternative High School should meet with their high school counselor or at-risk coordinator to discuss possible referral. The application paperwork includes:

When your application materials have been received and reviewed, you will be contacted for a reading evaluation appointment. EEN students will also need to schedule an IEP Change meeting at the high school.

Using the guidelines under Wisconsin Statute 38.14, students 16 years of age and older attending high school during the day may take courses after the regular school day or in the summer to earn credits toward their high school graduation. Students attend High School Credit courses through a financial contract between their high school and Fox Valley Technical College. Contract fees are established according to the per-credit cost of the course.
High School Credit Recovery: Students participating in the High School Credit Recovery program take Adult Education (AE) courses to make up credits for classes failed in their high school. Contracted fees are established in 72-hour increments. Students attend self-paced, competency-based classes at any of the AE classroom sites within the Fox Valley Technical College district, including Appleton, Chilton, Clintonville, New London, Oshkosh, Waupaca and Wautoma. Courses are offered in the subject areas of math, English, science, social studies, reading and health.
Students over the age of 16 who have failed a high school class or are short of credits toward graduation are eligible for High School Credit courses. Students and parents must work with their local high school guidance counselor or at-risk coordinator to determine the best educational plan. Referral to Fox Valley Technical College must come from the high school.
