IV Skills for Health Professionals

Medical professionals can refresh IV skills or develop new IV competencies through training offered in a short course or a multi-day format. Common topics including IV insertions, techniques, addressing complications and other considerations when performing IV therapy.
**TRAINING OPTIONS:**
**Beginner Peripheral IV Therapy for Nursing Professionals (8 hours)**
Current WI nursing professionals (RN/LPN) study concepts for IV beginners on fluid/electrolyte balance/osmosis, components of IV solutions, peripheral IV site selection, initiating and maintenance of peripheral IVs, best practices in IV therapy, and prevention/resolution of IV complications. Learn how to use agency IV policies and procedures. Practice and demonstrate newly acquired affective, cognitive and psychomotor competence after successful completion of written exam.
*Who Should Attend:* Best for nurses with limited clinical IV therapy opportunities and who have graduated from nursing school more than 5 years ago.
**Peripheral IV Therapy Refresher for Nursing Professionals (4 hours)**
Current WI nursing professionals (RN/LPN) review concepts on aseptic technique, initiating and maintenance of peripheral IVs, and prevention/resolution of IV complications. Learn updates on current best practices in peripheral IV therapy. Practice and demonstrate affective, cognitive and psychomotor competence after successful completion of written assessment and demonstration.
*Who Should Attend:* Best for nurses with clinical IV experience and/or who have graduated from nursing school within the last 5 years who need a refresher with newest practices in peripheral IV therapy.
