Disability Services

Disability Services (formerly Educational Support Services) are available to assist in creating an accessible college community where students with disabilities have an equal opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of the educational environment.

We cooperate through partnerships with students, faculty and staff to promote students' independence and to ensure recognition of their abilities, not disabilities. Fox Valley Tech provides accommodations and support services in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act (ADAA) to:

  • Students with documented disabilities
  • Students seeking Title IX pregnancy/parenting accommodations
  • Students with temporary, non-chronic impairment
  • Students and guests with disabilities participating in FVTC sponsored activities and using FVTC facilities

FVTC is dedicated to providing equal access to attendees at all FVTC sponsored events. To request accommodations, including services for deaf/hard of hearing, please contact Disability Services.

Services Available

Requesting Disability-Related Accommodations
  1. Contact Disability Services and request accommodations or complete this request: Request Disability Services.
  2. Provide appropriate disability-related documentation that supports the request for accommodations by asking your provider to complete and return one of the following documents: 
    Disability Verification Provider (PDF)
    Disability Documentation Request - Provider Letter (PDF)
  3. Develop an Accommodation Plan with a Disability Services Instructor.
Services

Reasonable accommodations may include, but are not limited to:

  • Alternative media
  • Assistive technology
  • Sign language interpreter services
  • Testing accommodations
  • Note-taking

Additional services (not covered by ADA):

  • Liaison with instructors, college staff and outside agencies
  • Case management
  • Advising/Advocacy

*Please note, FVTC does not provide personal attendant care.

Transition

Transition services include:

  • Disability Services informational presentations
  • Liaison with schools and community agencies
  • Information on how to access services, secure reasonable accommodations and prepare for college classes
  • Step Ahead: an orientation day prior to the Fall semester
