Skills Assessment

An academic skills assessment is required for admission into this program or the following: High School GPA of 2.75 or higher (last 10 years) OR provide completion of associate’s or higher degree OR; 165 or higher on your 2014 series GED tests OR; ACT OR SAT OR Accuplacer OR Companion OR Compass (last 3 years) to waive to the general education level; The cost of the Accuplacer assessment is $15; Catalog #: 94100100; Learn more at www.fvtc.edu/Assessment.

Proof of HS Completion

Submit a final, official high school transcript, an original diploma or an official copy of GED/HSED Certification Scores. Program Outcomes

  • Analyze technical graphic and written information found in prints, specifications, building codes, regulations, manufacturers’ data and other contract documents.
  • Apply accounting principles necessary to work within budget and assist with project buyout, management and cost accounting.
  • Apply the sustainable construction and development solutions utilizing the Green Building Rating System.
  • Comply with contractual and regulatory obligations of construction projects.
  • Comply with established company safety measures and OSHA regulations.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of building materials, systems, and processes to provide for cost-effective management.
  • Employ applications for Building Information Modeling (BIM) through the use of leading industry software for modeling and management.
  • Evaluate Quality Assurance techniques for building design, materials, and methods.
  • Manage budget preparation and administration from project conception through completion.
  • Manage construction personnel including subcontractors, suppliers and field staff to ensure timely, cost-effective project completion.
  • Participate in the preparation, tracking and maintenance of change orders, purchase orders, RFI’s, submittals, and other construction documents.
  • Schedule human, physical and financial resources necessary for construction project activities.
  • Use various software that supports construction technology.
