New for summer 2022 - TechKnowledge College (formerly Summer Camps)

FVTC is excited to offer hands-on learning opportunities for middle and high-school students again this summer. 

Registration will open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, February 1. 

During the pandemic, our top priority continues to be the health and safety of students, staff and faculty. The college has taken a conservative and flexible approach to the pandemic. We will continue to integrate CDC guidelines, state and local health information, and local best practices to deliver on the mission of the College. As such, activities may be canceled due to circumstances outside of our control. We will continue to communicate with you if any changes occur.

Adult and Child Small Engine Maintenance | Ages 9-18 | Two Sessions Available

Learn how to maintain and repair small two and four stroke engines used on today's outdoor power equipment. Bring in your lawn mower or other small engine equipment that you and your son or daughter can work on together. We will learn how to sharpen and balance blades, complete oil changes and tune up your engines.

Be a Medical Detective: Solving Laboratory Mysteries | Ages 12-14 | July 26

Did you know that 70% of patient's diagnoses are based on Medical Laboratory results? Learn how these valuable members in the healthcare team work to provide accurate test results. You will spend time in a medical laboratory using simulated specimens to help diagnose patients with disease.

Clintonville STEM Exploration | Ages 13-15 | August 2-4

Students will learn about how Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) are involved in the world of Automation and Robotics. Design and Develop a fully automated greenhouse.

CSI Adventures | Ages 14-18 | June 13-17 | EVENT FULL

Students will learn from real crime scene investigators and get practical hands-on applications along with experience with criminal investigations. Students will learn and apply as a team and build individual knowledge and confidence in how to manage a crime scene, how to search, identify, document, collect and preserve evidence at crime scenes through lecture and practical hands-on applications.

This training experience and adventure includes, but is not limited to the following: Impression evidence (fingerprints, footwear, tool marks)-practical hands-on applications; Use of an Alternate Light Source-practical hands-on applications; Trace evidence (hairs, fibers, paint, building materials)- practical hands-on applications DNA and biologicals- practical hands-on applications; Crime scene scenario’s- practical hands-on applications  and Courtroom testimony- practical hands-on applications.

Culinary Arts, Baking and Hospitality | Ages 13-15

Show off your skills in the kitchens and learn how to turn your passion into a career! Hands-on, minds-on experiences teach students the fundamentals of grilling and baking. Students will also learn about exciting career opportunities, while touring hospitality attractions around the Fox Cities.

Important notes:

  • Learners must have the physical stamina to participate while standing for 3.5 hours per session. 

  • The same curriculum is duplicated in both session 1 and session 2. Sessions overlap on July 20th, so all campers will participate in the hospitality tours around the Fox Cities on the same day.

Field Trip: On July 20, Participants will be transported by bus to tour a local hospitality destination.

Diesel Technology | Ages 12-18 | July 26-27

Learn about careers in heavy-duty diesel over the road truck repair. Students will gain hands-on, minds-on experience working in a heavy truck repair shop. Tour a local shop, meet real Technicians and have a lot of fun, while learning how to turn what you love into a career!

NOTE: Participants will be transported in college vans to a local shop. More details to come, as we get closer.

Discover Agriculture | Ages 12-15 | July 25-26

Discover Agriculture is a unique opportunity for students to explore agriculture sciences and gain knowledge about careers in animal and plant science, and veterinary medicine. Students experience hands-on learning with behind-the-scenes tours, laboratory and field exercises, and a variety of team building activities.

Explore Technology | Ages 12-15 | June 8

Take part in hands-on activities in various areas of Information Technology. This will include Computer Security using a Rubber Ducky, Sphero gyro-ball programming, exploring the Internet of Things, and more.

Exploring Therapeutic Activity Specialist | Ages 14-18 | June 20-21

Explore the role of a Therapeutic Activity Specialist. Learn about various therapeutic activities that people participate in and how to adapt them for individuals with physical, mental, or social challenges. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in activities that are commonly led in facilities and practice leading activities with their peers and community participants.

Fire Exploration | Ages 13-18 | August 1-4

Challenge yourself, make new friends and learn about the firefighter life: Join us for this outstanding firefighting camp! Get hands-on experiences by performing tasks and training exercises alongside local firefighters and get a sneak peek behind the scenes at a local fire department. Students will be transported to local fire departments by college vans. More details to come regarding fieldtrips.

GirlTech | Ages 9-13 | July 25-29

Participate in hands-on, minds-on STEM activities including welding, soldering, engineering and computer programming and much more. Registration fee includes a t-shirt, daily snacks and take-home projects.

Healthcare Immersion | Ages 11-14 | June 21

Public Safety | Ages 13-15 | June 20-22

Do you think you want to be a police officer, firefighter or crime scene investigator someday? Here is your chance to get a glimpse at all three in one place! Get hands-on experiences like performing a traffic stop, being part of a SWAT team, firefighting training exercises, to collecting evidence and preserving a crime scene! Each day students will get to learn from real life officers, firefighters and crime scene investigators as they learn some of the skills necessary to be successful in these public safety careers

Robotic Farmers | Ages 9-18 | July 28

From self-checkouts at the grocery store to vacuums in our homes, automation is becoming part of our daily lives. Automation is also how many farmers get their work done. Activities will take place at our partner dairy, Wichman Dairy, to explore how they employ automation to milk their cows, feed their calves, and complete many other chores throughout their day. Back on campus we will see how professionals in agriculture use automation and robotics to plant crops, test milk samples, and analyze feed samples.

NOTE: Participants will be transported in college vans to the partner dairy. More details to come, as we get closer.

Wheels on Fire! | Ages 12-16 | August 9-11 | EVENT FULL

Put the pedal to the floor and let the rubber burn! Welcoming students ages 12 to 16 to join us in a multifaceted experience called "Wheels on Fire". assemble, personalize and take home your very own RC car! Additionally, learner will assemble a 90 ft drag racing track, work with industrial equipment including sensors and PanelViews to measure, calculate and display race stats. Finally, individuals will compete against each other by racing their personalized RC cars, as well as, an alternative car designed using an angle-grinder. Lunch, snacks, and drinks will be provided.
