University Transfer Agreements Create New Pathways to Four-Year Degree

Agreements connect FVTC to UWO and UWGB in new ways

Fox Valley Technical College has officially signed two articulation agreements that will allow students earning an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) from FVTC to seamlessly transfer to UW Oshkosh or UW-Green Bay with junior standing to continue their education.

Both university transfer agreements were signed during an event at Fox Valley Technical College. One agreement was signed by Fox Valley Technical College President Dr. Chris Matheny and UW Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt; the other agreement was signed by Dr. Matheny and UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander.

“These transfer agreements create new educational pathways for students in our district who have shown interest in beginning their college coursework at Fox Valley Technical College and then transferring to another school in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree,” said Fox Valley Technical College President Dr. Chris Matheny. “UW Oshkosh and UW-Green Bay have long been our partners in creating pathways from our technical degrees to their bachelor’s degree programs and this is yet another option.”

Fox Valley Technical College officially started offering the AA and AS degree programs this week with the start of the spring semester.

"UWO and Fox Valley Technical College are again leveraging our two institutions’ proximity and distinctive but complementary missions to strengthen our academic relationship and bring us even closer in service to students,” said UWO Chancellor Andrew Leavitt. “This new agreement is the latest in a series of partnerships our two institutions have developed over the years. It is really about deepening our ongoing commitment to enhance opportunities for student access and success in higher education to citizens of northeastern Wisconsin and, specifically to learners in this region."

Each associate degree offered by FVTC consists of 60 credits, including 39 to 41 credits of general education and 19 to 21 credits of electives. The programs are financial aid eligible and meet the requirements for general education courses at UWO and UWGB.

“We are thrilled for this opportunity to create more robust and direct transfer pathways between our institutions that make sense for students and expand the ecosystem of higher education in Northeast Wisconsin,” said UW-Green Bay Chancellor Michael Alexander. “This progress honors the great education that is happening at the technical colleges in our region and provides equitable transfer from technical college degrees into further education at UW-Green Bay. It provides access and opportunity for more students to expand their education beyond high school.”
