Why did you choose the Early Childhood Education career program?

I chose to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education because I want the opportunity to influence future generations. I strive to be a positive role model and to help and support children in being the best versions of themselves.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

One of the most rewarding aspects of working in Early Childhood Education is that every day is a new experience. When I was younger I had so many dream jobs. I wanted to be an interior designer, a counselor, a scientist, a detective, and a writer. With a career as an Early Childhood Educator, I get to be so many of these things.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

I chose Fox Valley Technical College because it gives me the ability to work and live locally as well as to get an excellent and affordable education. During my senior year of high school, I took a human services and education class and a few instructors from FVTC came to speak about the Early Childhood Education program which got me excited for what the future would bring. I truly believe that Fox Valley Technical College is where I am meant to be.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

Fox Valley Technical College has helped me to find a place of employment in Early Childhood Education that I genuinely enjoy. Kathy Meetz is one of my instructors and I am very grateful that she assigned me to Apple Tree Connections Daycare for my Introductory Practicum because I have had such a great experience there. After completing my Introductory Practicum, I was hired at Apple Tree Connections Daycare, and I feel very grateful to be there.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

My employment goal is to become a preschool teacher or a lead daycare teacher. My associate degree from FVTC will provide me with the education that I need to be successful and prepared in the field of Early Childhood Education.

In one sentence, what's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

Don't be afraid to ask for help and know that you don't have to go through the journey alone.
