FVTC Weighs in on Program for Younger Semi Drivers
Due to the ongoing shortage of drivers in the trucking industry, the federal government is starting an apprenticeship program that would allow drivers as young as 18 to drive semi-trucks across state lines.
FVTC’s Director of Truck Driving program, Rob Behnke, was recently asked by FOX11 to weigh in on the pilot program which, among other things, would require more hours of training for student drivers between the ages of 18-20.
“This will provide additional career pathways for people in school,” Rob explained. “And help them understand what transportation is all about.”
