Teen Officer for the Day Visits PSTC Chance Van Stippen gets glimpse of career he’s always dreamed of Friday, January 13, 2023 | By: Daley-Hinkens, Carmelyn M A Fox Valley teen sworn in as an honorary police officer recently spent part of his shift touring and participating in simulated drills at the FVTC Public Safety Training Center (PSTC). While Chance Van Stippen continues to battle a rare form of brain cancer, his mother says Chance has never wavered from his interest in one day being a police officer. One day came sooner than expected as the Menasha, Fox Crossing and Neenah police departments joined forces to create a special law enforcement experience for Chance. In addition to being sworn in and meeting with officers from the departments, Chance also toured the PSTC and saw where our public safety students train for their careers. He also did target practice using paintballs and learned how to deploy a taser in an emergency. Chance and his family shared his memorable day as an officer with local journalists.
