Why did you choose the Nursing - RN Associate Degree program?

I chose to study this field because I have a passion for helping others and I am fascinated by the science behind the human body. I started as a CNA, then became a CMA. After working with countless amazing nurses, I was inspired to become one myself!

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

Nursing as a career offers so many opportunities. From hospitals and clinics to school nurse positions, or even on-site healthcare nursing at large corporations.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

The schedule and timeframe for classes fit my life nicely. I was impressed by the high NCLEX pass rates and felt confident I would do well at this school.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

The amazing instructors have boosted my confidence and been there for me in more ways than I can count. I was blessed to receive some scholarships from the FVTC Foundation which helped us afford daycare. Because of the concurrent enrollment program, I’ve also been completing my BSN at the same time. This has helped shave off a few years of school!

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

My options are pretty open at this point. I will be eligible for almost any nursing role I would like. I’m excited to start clinicals this semester and see if there’s a specific field I’m most interested in.

In one sentence, what's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

With FVTC, going back to school was the best decision I’ve ever made, and one that I would encourage anyone to make because everyone here wants you to succeed.

Pro Tips

Best on-campus place to study: Computers downstairs by the library

One class you surprisingly enjoyed: Advanced Anatomy and Physiology

One class that challenged you: Pharmacology

One thing every FVTC student must experience on campus before graduating: A gourmet cup of coffee from the cafe in the lunchroom

Pro-tip for newcomers trying to find their way around campus: Look it up ahead of time and park near the closest entrance to your classroom. Or, always use the same parking lot. That works too!
