Why did you choose this career program?

I chose Accounting because I have always been great with numbers. While I have always considered myself a helper, I see accountants as the nurses of finances in businesses. I love helping to find answers to problems.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

I really enjoy helping people. Working with fellow students on projects to identify where journal entries may have gone wrong is my passion! Through this, I have formed lifelong friendships.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

I chose FVTC because of the flexibility, affordability, and proximity to my current location.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

It has truly helped me focus on what I really want in life. I feel like I am finally on the path I was always meant to travel.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I plan to pursue my bachelor's degree. I believe I will enter financial accounting, working on a company's accounts receivable/payable, or perhaps even providing bookkeeping services for small local businesses.

What's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

Take your time, learn about yourself, and don't stress! Life can change your plans, and it's okay to adapt. I'm in my 40s, taking classes, and thriving—I am so proud of myself! You can go whenever you're ready, but the sooner you start, the more opportunities you'll have!

Lightning Round!

Best on-campus place to study: The TLC or business lab

One class you surprisingly enjoyed: Ethics

One class that challenged you: Cost Accounting

One thing every FVTC student must experience on campus before graduating: Make sure to go to the business networking events! They are great for practicing meeting with potential employers!

Pro tip for newcomers trying to find their way around campus: Go a few days before classes start and give yourself a tour. If all else fails, always stop people and ask. People here are very happy to help.
