Why did you choose the Aircraft Electronics career program?

I grew up around aviation and have always loved it. Last year I completed the Airframe & Powerplant Mechanics program and earned my A&P certification that allows me to work on aircraft. Electronics have always been interesting to me and I'm always looking for an opportunity to learn more, which is why I chose to add this knowledge of aircraft and complete this program.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

I learned through talking with employers that there’s a huge demand for aircraft electronic technicians. I also find it rewarding seeing how many people take interest in what I'm doing because a career in aviation is not that common and on top of that, I'm a woman.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

Fox Valley Tech has the most affordable program. This college allows me to get my A&P schooling/certification along with my associate degree in aircraft electronics and other licenses and certifications in only three years. In other colleges, it would have taken two years for each program.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

Going through these programs has motivated me to never stop setting goals and setting myself up to have a good future. Going into the workforce with my qualifications will allow me to get a good-paying job at a good company.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I hope to have a job lined up right after graduation specializing in aircraft electronics in another state.

In one sentence, what's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

Have your end goal in mind and make a list of what it will take for you to complete it. If it sounds doable and you think you have what it takes, then go for it!

Lightning Round!

Best on-campus place to study: The Avionics lab

One class you surprisingly enjoyed: Digital Electronics

One class that challenged you: Semiconductors 2

One thing every FVTC student must experience on campus before graduating: Running outside with classmates to see what kind of airplane is flying over the school!

Pro-tip for newcomers trying to find their way around campus: The Spanbauer campus is basically split into three different sections for each program.
