Why did you choose the Outdoor Power Equipment Technician career program?

Growing up I loved (and still love) taking things apart and figuring out how they work. I took a small engines class in high school and found it very enjoyable, but I ended up pursuing a welding job instead. After two years I decided that it was time for a change, and to finally pursue a career path that I had a love for in the past.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

Small engines are incredibly diverse, and many parts of day-to-day life incorporate the use of some kind of small engine. Because of this, there are always new opportunities to explore and an abundance of job opportunities.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

Fox Valley Tech is a welcoming place to start whether you are right out of high school, or if you are starting a new career path. The staff here are always ready to help anyone in any situation, and they are always happy to do whatever they can to help you succeed.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

Fox Valley Tech has allowed me to take a chance at a big change in my life. The Outdoor Power Entrepreneurship degree program has given me all the skills I need to confidently enter the workforce and make a difference in the community.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I expect to find many diverse job openings available after graduation. For small engine (outdoor power), there are so many career paths to choose from. I would like to pursue a lawn care tune-up/maintenance job if possible.

In one sentence, what's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

Take the leap, a big change in life can be scary but FVTC is there to help.
