Student Success Center Dedicated

Fox Valley Technical College dedicated its new Student Success Center (SSC) on September 16 with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony. The two-story, 24,000 square-foot-plus facility opened this fall in time for students and was supported by the community as part of a 2012 public referendum, which passed by a 2-1 margin.

The SSC, located inside entrance 1 on the Appleton campus, features added space for innovative study rooms and computer labs, as well as easier access to tutors, faculty members, and staff. The facility was also designed to meet increased needs in Adult Basic Education and General Studies and includes an expansion to the Library and its services.

Two centerpieces of the SSC include the KI Innovation Center—a four-room continuum of open-space classrooms on the second floor designed to enhance soft skill development in communications and teamwork in a collaborative setting, equipped with multi-media technologies and wall-to-wall and tabletop marker board provisions, and the Tree of Success—a 24 ft. art sculpture made of wire mesh and a smooth wood finish courtesy of students in FVTC’s Wood Manufacturing Technology program. The Tree of Success, a first-floor fixture, is full of simulated fruit that depicts one-word concepts on what success means to students at FVTC.
