Why did you choose this career program?

My uncles work in coding for a living, and nearly my entire family uses computers to some capacity at their jobs. I have always been interested in coding due to all the help and encouragement from my family.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

I am learning everything that goes into coding a website by using HTML, C#, and others, including inserting and extracting data from databases. I find it rewarding to build my own websites and put my own creative twist on them.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

Before enrolling, I attended an informational session at FVTC. It was there I learned that the college has amazing IT programs, and I was not disappointed.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

Fox Valley Technical College has helped me find my passion and has given me lots of opportunities to expand my horizons and conquer my fears. I have improved my leadership skills through opportunities to join clubs and school organizations. FVTC has also helped me improve my confidence by allowing me to try many opportunities in a supportive space.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I am hoping to design websites as commissions and create websites for large companies. Whether I am working with a team of web developers and design specialists or working on my own, I’d like to be in a leadership position due to my drive to make a difference and improve the lives of the people around me.

In one sentence, what's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

The people you meet in college want to help you and want you to succeed. Be open to new possibilities, and when opportunity knocks at your door, seize the moment—the first step is always the hardest.

Lightning Round!

Best on-campus place to study: The commons; great food, vibe, food - did I mention food?

One class you surprisingly enjoyed: As a writer and poet, I choose Written Communication.

One thing every FVTC student must experience on campus before graduating: You have to visit student life at least once.

Pro tip for newcomers trying to find their way around campus: Walk into almost any room with a front desk because they are always willing to help.
