Why did you choose the Automated Manufacturing Systems Technology & Electro-Mechanical Technology programs?
I chose the Automated Manufacturing Systems program because I wanted to acquire an education that would remain relevant for the rest of my working life. Once I entered the program, I realized that transfer credit from my past attempt at secondary education would allow me to simultaneously acquire the Electro-Mechanical Technology degree by adding a few classes to my schedule.
What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
I was pleasantly surprised to discover the wide ranging applications of the skills I am acquiring. Automation is affecting not only the manufacturing industry but also other areas of the economy such as the agricultural and service industries.
Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I chose FVTC for three main reasons. First was the affordability of the two-year degrees that can quickly pay for themselves in the job market. Second, they offer the flexibility to schedule classes during the day, evening or online. Most importantly, I chose FVTC for the opportunity to learn from instructors who are accomplished in the profession that I wish to pursue.
How did Fox Valley Technical College help you change your life?
As a non-traditional student, FVTC has given me an opportunity for a fresh start and hope for a better future in a career that promises to expand in possibilities.
What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
After graduation I hope to find a job traveling to facilities around the country installing, repairing and maintaining automated systems.
