Why did you choose the Industrial Welding Technology program?
I chose the welding program because I am a hands-on type of person, and welding is all about the hands-on work. This field not only has a lot of interesting things to learn in welding, but also in operating machines, robots, etc.
What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?
I am learning that as a welder, the more knowledge you have, the more valuable you will be to a company. I want to be a valuable worker, and I will strive to always improve as a welder.
Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?
I chose to go to FVTC because it is close to home for me. I also have siblings and friends that attend FVTC, and they told me it was a great technical college.
How did Fox Valley Technical College help you change your life?
The people at FVTC are what really changed my life. I have made great connections here, and I learn new skills from them. The people who impacted me the most are my club advisors (Student Government Association and Hmong Student Union), the welding instructors, and Wolfgang Wallschlaeger in Counseling & Advising Services. I wouldn't be who I am now if it wasn't for them. I am glad to know them, and their encouragement pushes me to continue to reach new heights.
What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?
I am unsure about the specific job I want after graduation, but Pierce Manufacturing is definitely an employer I want to work for. But I would be happy to work anywhere as a welder, as long as they have great benefits for their employees.
