Promise Success Means Brighter Futures

Launched in August, the Fox Valley Technical College Promise concluded its first-year campaign with several notable successes.

Designed to help address a regional skills shortage, the Promise offers free college tuition and books for qualifying high school seniors who meet certain criteria and plan to attend the college in fall of 2017. The initiative is coordinated through the FVTC Foundation.

Anchored by a strong start toward reaching a fundraising goal of $1 million in five years, the Foundation has already raised $450,000 in just four months for the Promise. A combination of corporate, philanthropic, and private donors—along with FVTC staff members, make up the impressive momentum in helping low-income individuals realize a debt-free college experience.

The first-year deadline to sign-up for the Promise was December 15. As the deadline closed, 837 high school students took the first step in becoming a Promise Scholar.
