Developing Leaders for Nonprofit Sector

| By: Britten, Casey

Fox Valley Technical College and the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region teamed up to provide the region’s first-ever training cohort for the Nonprofit Leadership Initiative.

Eleven nonprofit professionals completed the nine-month Nonprofit Leadership Institute at FVTC in late April. They include:

Hillary Armstrong, Appleton Boychoir

Rosangela Berbert, Samaritan Counseling Center of the Fox Valley

Jarrad Bittner, Building for Kids Children’s Museum

Michael Green, COTS

Denise Martinez, FISC

Jennie Moore, Goodwill Industries NCW

Kelly Nutty, Riverview Gardens

Maren Peterson, NAMI

JJ Schauske, Tri-County Dental Clinic

Kristopher Ulrich, newVoices

Bee Yang, Hmong American Partnership Fox Valley

College leaders and business instructors from FVTC, along with the Nonprofit Leadership Initiative and other community leaders, identified a need in the region’s business sector to strengthen nonprofit organizations through executive-style leadership training. Trainees received a professional development certification upon completion of the program, which included learning objectives pertaining to financial management, fundraising, process improvements, human resources, board mobilization, and marketing, to name a few.

Based on the success of the program’s first pool of nonprofit leaders, a second cohort is already underway.
