Why did you choose to study this field?

I chose education because I wanted to share my love of learning with students and make a positive impact on the future. I'm also deeply passionate about being part of the 9% of Latinx educators and being the representation I looked for as a child.

Tell us how you came to choose FVTC for your education.

Applying to college was extremely intimidating to me as a first-generation student and FVTC helped me navigate that journey. FVTC's education program was also extremely appealing because of the flexible scheduling and plethora of learning opportunities.

What's been the most rewarding part of your educational journey at FVTC?

During my program, I had two practicums: one at Appleton Bilingual School and the other at Dunlap Elementary. These were some of the most impactful times of my education. During these semesters, I built invaluable relationships with my students and coordinating teachers who continue motivating me as I progress on my educational journey.

What was the most difficult part?

Dealing with my inner perfectionist! I've had to learn that my best is good enough and not everything needs to be perfect the first time.

What will you do on graduation day or in the future to celebrate graduation?

A graduation party with my family and friends after commencement! My amazing aunt has planned my graduation party and I can't wait to enjoy it!

Tell us about your plans after graduation.

After graduation, I plan on getting my license to substitute teach and will be transferring to Lakeland University to complete my bachelor's program.

One last parting thought or words of wisdom to share with others.

Know that you belong in the spaces you enter, even if you are the minority in them. Know that who you are and what you can do is enough and don't forget to enjoy your journey!
