Apprentices Awarded Trade Scholarships
Fifteen construction and industrial trades apprentices at Fox Valley Technical College each received $1,000 Tools of the Trade scholarships from Great Lakes Higher Education Guaranty Corporation.
The scholarships are designed to address projected job growth of 21% for careers in construction and a 15% increase in the industrial trades throughout the state, according to the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development. Before employees can attain journey worker status to fill in-demand jobs that are available now, apprentices must complete up to five years of specialized training and classroom instruction.

Great Lakes officials indicate that 96% of Tools of Trade scholarship recipients either complete or continue their training.
