Nursing Students Send Cheer to Troops

Nursing Students Send Cheer to Troops

| By: Britten, Casey

The holidays will be a little brighter for some soldiers stationed away from home this year, thanks to a group of FVTC nursing students.

The Student Nurses Association recently hosted a donation drive for troops, collecting items like snacks, coffee, hygiene products, playing cards and books. About 40 packages were mailed out this November.

The project started in 2019 when the husband of one of the nursing students was deployed, explains Shelly Dempewolf, club advisor and nursing instructor. “It means a lot to us to send these care packages,” says Shelly. “These men and women are supporting our country and ultimately protecting our freedom and way of life. I appreciate those sacrifices, and this is just a small way we can show them how much their service means.”
