New Technology the Star of Farm Tour

Farm owners explain how technology creates efficiencies and savings

| By: Daley-Hinkens, Carmelyn M

After being virtual for two years due to the pandemic, Fox Valley Technical College was excited to see Farm Tour 2022 return to an in-person event. Midlakes Customer Services LLC and Pleasant View Dairy, both located in Hilbert, served as hosts.

Fox 11 News and Spectrum News 1 visited the farm tour to learn more about the cutting-edge technology that is being used to help these farms increase milk production, maximize crop performance, create efficiencies and assist in making future farm management decisions.

“Some of the efficiencies that we’ve seen with new equipment is it used to take a full week to fill a silo,” explained Sara Maass-Pate, Farm Business and Production Management instructor. “Now, some of the choppers can do that in less than two hours.”
