Kenworth Engine and Tooling Donation Provides Hands-On Learning for Diesel Students

| By: LaVigne, Anna M

The FVTC Diesel Equipment Technology program recently received a generous donation from Kenworth Trucks of a brand-new PACCAR MX13 engine, along with the necessary tools for working on it.

This donation –valued at nearly $73,000-- will greatly enhance the program’s educational resources, offering students invaluable hands-on training that aligns with the latest industry standards.

“Students will have direct access to a modern, industry-standard diesel engine, allowing for practical learning experiences,” explains Joe Berhausen, Diesel Equipment Technology instructor. “They will gain hands-on experience with diagnostics, repairs and maintenance tasks.”

Students will learn how to disassemble an engine, diagnose issues, and reassemble it, all while using the proper tools.

The addition of the PACCAR MX13 engine adds great value to the program, significantly improving students' employability and career readiness.

"This experience equips them with practical skills that are directly applicable to the diesel service and repair industry," Joe explains. "It prepares them for careers in sectors such as trucking, heavy equipment and the automotive industry."

The practical skills and knowledge they gain from working with this state-of-the-art engine will be directly applicable in the diesel service and repair industry, setting them up for success in their future careers.
