Georgetown University Praises College

| By: Britten, Casey

The Georgetown University Center for Intercultural Education and Development recognized Fox Valley Technical College’s Global Education & Services department for its outstanding commitment to international education as contributors to the Scholarships for Education and Economic Development, or SEED, program.

For 25 years, FVTC has educated and trained more than 600 students from Mexico and Central America in the SEED program. Some of these program completers have gone on to become elected officials, business leaders, philanthropists, and community development professionals and more in their homelands.

As part of the acknowledgement to the college, Georgetown University highlighted the work of Dr. Marie Martin, FVTC’s director of Global Education & Services, Allisen Stojanovic, manager of international student programs, and Aaron Gorenc, program coordinator, along with SEED founder at the college, Rose Zoesch-Weigel.

The SEED program offers custom designed technical training and educational opportunities to youth and community leaders from economically disadvantaged and historically underserved populations, including women, people with disabilities, and members of ethnic/indigenous groups.
