Why did you choose to study this field?

I have had a passion for manufacturing since my freshman year of high school. I love seeing things come together from start to finish, so the Industrial Engineering Technology program was a logical next step in turning my passion into a career. I also enjoy the flexibility that a career in this field offers. I get to combine working on machinery, as well as working in an office for a nice balance.

Tell us how you came to choose FVTC for your education.

I knew I didn't want to go to a 4-year degree college, and I wanted to be able to continue working while also working toward a degree. FVTC had the program I was looking for, was close to home, and also had the flexibility to allow me to work around my class schedule.

What's been the most rewarding part of your educational journey at FVTC?

The most rewarding part was landing a job as a manufacturing engineer technician before I even graduated.

What was the most difficult part?

The most difficult part for me was overcoming everything that COVID-19 threw at me. Needing to do more online classes, missing school and having fewer people in my classes made my journey more complicated.

What will you do on graduation day or in the future to celebrate graduation?

Celebrate with my family and friends with a nice dinner and drinks!

Tell us about your plans after graduation.

I will be going to full-time status at Amerequip in Kiel, where I have been working part-time since the start of last semester.

One last parting thought or words of wisdom to share with others.

If you are planning on working while going to school, then take a class every summer and Winterim if possible. This will ease your class workload during the school year to allow you more time to work and ease your stress levels.
