Why did you choose to study this field?

I was interested in construction because I have always enjoyed working with my hands. Someday I would like to help my family and others by fixing things that require the skill of a professional carpenter.

Tell us how you came to choose FVTC for your education.

My American grandmother had always advised me to seek higher education after I graduated from high school. FVTC was the best college for me as I was looking for a degree that allowed me to work with my hands.

What's been the most rewarding part of your educational journey at FVTC?

I have experienced a number of very rewarding experiences during my time at FVTC. First, my instructors have helped me in so many ways and were always there when I needed help. Additionally, I was able to secure a scholarship that awarded money to help me in purchasing tools that I needed for my classes.

What was the most difficult part?

The most difficult part for me was the language barrier. English is my second language, and I often struggle with terminologies. There were times when I almost gave up, but my instructors were always there encouraging me and guiding me through those difficult times with patience and care.

Tell us about your plans after graduation.

After graduation, I plan to work for Appleton Lathing Corporation and save up money to buy a house.

What’s your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

Be patient with yourself. If instructors offer extra help, go for it, and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

One last parting thought or words of wisdom to share with others.
