Appleton Campus Improvement Projects Underway

Enhanced Student Services and Commons among the upgrades

| By: Britten, Casey

Several campus improvement projects are underway this summer and fall at the main campus in Appleton.

Phase 2 of a Commons remodel is being completed this summer with completion scheduled for mid-August. Upgrades during this phase include a new short order lab and Advanced Quantity Production lab. Phase 1 was completed in 2023 and added a second baking lab to enhance the Baking & Pastry Management program. The food service area and meat identification lab were also remodeled.

The Student Services wing adjacent to Entrance 10 is also undergoing a transformation to provide a more welcoming and valuable experience for students. The new area will feature an open and inviting welcome center where students will be greeted and met where they are by staff members. They can get all their questions answered in one place without having to walk from office to office. Other areas are also being remodeled to improve use of space and resources. Phase 1 of this project has already been completed, with Phase 2 beginning in mid-September 2024. The main entrance (Entrance 10) will be closed during this timeframe, reopening when work is complete in January 2025.

At the D.J. Bordini Center, 6,500 square feet are being renovated and reconfigured for the Electrical & Electronics Engineering programs. This update will consolidate all classrooms and labs into a single location. The renovation will result in combined lecture and lab spaces, featuring a modern design along with updated equipment and furnishings.

Improvements are also being made to the parking lots at the Appleton campus with estimated completion by Friday, August 16, and the Fitness Center is closed until September 3 for equipment replacement, cleaning and painting.
