Tapping Maple Trees on Campus

| By: Britten, Casey

Fox Valley Technical College Natural Resources students recently tapped six maple trees around campus as part of their training to help area nature centers with maple syrup events later this month.

The students in the Environmental Education class will be working with Bubolz Nature Preserve, 1000 Islands Environmental Center, Brillion Nature Center and Fallen Timbers Environmental Center.

Blue sap bags have been placed on the trees and over the next few weeks students will gather data and observe how sap production is affected by weather and other environmental conditions.
