Why did you choose the IT Security Specialist career program?

My field of study is unique in that it requires me to have knowledge in many different IT fields to be the best at my job. Being able to secure people's personal data is so important in a world where everything is gravitating toward technology.

What are you learning about your career field that you find interesting or rewarding?

It's interesting to me knowing I will be responsible for people's personal information and I love that I will be teaching companies and their employees how to protect their information.

Why did you choose Fox Valley Technical College?

Fox Valley Tech feels like a huge amazing family. I do not think I would have had the love, support, and experience I have found here from anywhere else. I would not trade this experience for anything.

How has Fox Valley Technical College helped you change your life?

When I started at FVTC, I thought it would be a situation where I would just go to school and do homework. That is not the case. I have a counselor to talk to for free, which is something I have never had in my life, I have an advisor to help navigate me through my classes, and I have support and friends from almost all the departments and offices at school. Other than my family, I have never had this many people rooting for me and supporting me.

What type of job do you expect to find after graduation?

I plan to wait until after graduation to decide on where I want to work, but I know that graduating from FVTC will leave me with the solid footing and knowledge I need to succeed.

In one sentence, what's your best advice for someone who's not sure they're ready for college?

We are never ready for the next step. Throw yourself in and give it your best shot, and let God and life do the rest. You can do it, no matter what.
