The Wisconsin Society of American Foresters awarded Fox Valley Technical College Natural Resources Instructor Anthony Rynish with the 2017 Mike King Forester of the Year award during the organization’s annual state meeting in Hayward.

Rynish was recognized for his outstanding contributions to field forestry work through helping landowners best manage their natural resources for tree and wildlife preservation. As an instructor, Rynish was further acknowledged for sharing those same best practices with his students in their current projects for the community, including collaborations with the Appleton International Airport and Outagamie County Parks department, along with invasive plant management in the college’s forest located on the Appleton campus.

Founded in 1900, the Society of American Foresters is a national, scientific, and educational organization representing the forestry profession in the United States.
