Safety with Social Media: Our Youth ARE at Risk

Tuesday, February 26
6 p.m.
FVTC Oshkosh Riverside Campus
150 N. Campbell Road, Oshkosh

Deputy Pete Ehlert and Deputy/ICAC Investigator Mike Sewall of the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office will focus on why our children are at risk when using social media and the internet.  The presentation will begin with the effect of technology on the development of our youth and then Deputies Ehlert and Sewall will show how easy it is for a predator to target our kids and the methods that are used while engaging children online.

Sexting laws will be broken down and you will learn why our children engage in this behavior and don’t think it’s a big deal. Popular apps among youth in our community will also be covered as well as how kids get in trouble using these apps.

Deputies Ehlert and Sewall will also cover what you can do to help keep our kids safe and provide many valuable resources that are available for parents and educators. They will also discuss local initiatives currently at work in Winnebago County.
