Your training will prepare you to effectively organize and supervise the business related tasks of a medical office. You will learn about medical records and records management, insurance claims and medical billing, and office technologies, along with the HIPAA privacy rule and what it means in a medical office. You will also cover medical language, anatomy and physiology, and medical document editing. You'll have the knowledge and experience to start your career in a hospital, clinic, insurance company, or rehabilitation or nursing care facility.

  • Apply an understanding of the medicolegal aspects of business health practices, with a primary focus on HIPAA privacy and security, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations and employee liability.
  • Utilize knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology to interpret health records and process business health documents.
  • Apply knowledge of frequently used payment/reimbursement systems to ensure optimal reimbursement and be aware of compliance issues.
  • Model professional and ethical behavior while working in a business health environment.
  • Function effectively and productively within a team-focused work group.
  • Utilize effective written and oral communication skills integral to maintaining rapport with coworkers and customers.
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage the operations of a business health office.
  • Apply technology skills to business health office tasks using a variety of business-related software and hardware.
