Employer Advisory Committees

Fox Valley Technical College’s 95% graduate employment rate doesn’t happen by chance. The high employment rates are the result of carefully connecting graduates’ skills to employer needs. Employer advisory committees guide the curriculum for each FVTC occupational program, providing real-world business expertise that positions the college’s graduates for employment in their industries.


Types of Employer Advisory Committees:

Program Advisory Committees

Program advisory committees are a requirement of the Wisconsin Technical College System. They provide advice and counsel to program managers and faculty regarding specific FVTC associate degree and technical diploma programs. The purpose of a program advisory committee is to help the college ensure that the program is relevant to the community, addresses current industry standards, meets workforce needs, and has appropriate resources to support high quality student outcomes. To accomplish this purpose, program advisory committees focus on the specific functions of program development, curriculum review, program evaluation, instructor guidance, student recruitment, retention and placement.


Apprenticeship Advisory Committees

Joint apprenticeship and training committees are formed by the Division of Workforce Excellence through the Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards to develop and coordinate an apprentice training program for a specific trade. When these committees also provide advisory services to the college, they are appointed by the college Vice President for Learning and Chief Academic Officer and are identified as apprentice advisory committees.


Regional Advisory Committees

Regional advisory committees are organized in the various geographic regions of Fox Valley Technical College involving a branch campus or regional center. The purpose of a regional advisory committee is to provide advice and counsel to the college’s regional leaders and staff regarding the programming and services provided in that area to address community needs.

*Advisory committees are advisory in nature, do not establish policy, or supersede the legal responsibility and authority vested in the College Board of Trustees. Advisory committee recommendations are reviewed by the administration and, if appropriate, by the Board for feasibility of implementation.
