Admissions

Skills Assessment

An academic skills assessment is required for admission into this program or the following: High School GPA of 2.75 or higher (last 10 years) OR provide completion of associate’s or higher degree OR; 165 or higher on your 2014 series GED tests OR; ACT OR SAT OR Accuplacer OR Companion OR Compass (last 3 years) to waive to the general education level; The cost of the Accuplacer assessment is $15; Catalog #: 94100100; Learn more at www.fvtc.edu/Assessment.

Bennett Mechanical Assessment

Complete the Bennett Mechanical Assessment. Go to www.fvtc.edu/skillsassessment to find information and instructions; You can also call us at (920) 735-5645 to sign up; The cost of the assessment is $14; you must score a 27 or higher.

Tools will be provided for students to use while on campus.

This program may require professional licensure or certification; FVTC has determined that this program meets professional licensure requirements in the state of Wisconsin; however, FVTC has not determined if this program meets professional licensure requirements for other states.

  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive automatic transmission/transaxle systems
  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive brake systems
  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive electrical & electronic systems
  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive engine performance systems
  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive heating and air conditioning systems
  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive internal combustion engines
  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive manual drive train and axles systems
  • Perform diagnosis, service, and repair of automotive steering and suspension systems

Accreditation

This program is certified by the ASE Education Foundation. ASE accredited programs ensure that the automotive technician education is upheld to the highest quality learning standards set by industry experts. An ASE accredited program also prepares students for achieving Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) technician certification. Faculty who teach this program are ASE certified professionals.

Credit Transfer Options

They're your credits. Take them with you!

Whether you’re an incoming student, transferring to another two-year college or pursuing your bachelor’s degree, we make it easy for you to seamlessly transfer your credits. With full accreditation by the Higher Learning Commission, we offer credit transfer agreements with more than 65 two-and four-year colleges.

Transfer In

Many students come to Fox Valley Tech with credits they’ve already earned, either while in high school or at other colleges and universities. It’s also possible to be granted credit for career-related knowledge and skills you’ve already mastered.

Transfer Out

Is a four-year degree in your future? Save time and money by starting here. You can earn your associate degree at Fox Valley Tech, then apply your credits toward a bachelor’s degree. Or easily transfer your credits to other two-year colleges.
